The first part of May I noticed a swollen lymph node on the right side of Teagan's neck. At first I thought that she was probably catching a cold, so I waited and watched, the very next day I notice another swollen lymph node. At this point I knew that it was related to the wound in her leg. We saw her Primary care doctor who referred us to an Infectious Disease Doctor at Primary children's. In the mean time Teagan saw the wound clinic again, and we found out that her wound isn't healing, it is a fistula.
We Took Teagan to Primary Children's Hospital to see an infectious disease doctor. She was diagnosed with Mycobacterium Avium Complex. She is now on three different antibiotics, the lumps in her neck will need to be removed in surgery. Other than that she is cheerful and energetic!
P.S. we are moving....again! Adam got a job offer in Roosevelt as a personal banker, so we are moving back to the farm!

Hmmm interesting. This is so rare that they don't teach it to us in med school except in the context of AIDS as an opportunistic infection, in which case it's a totally different type of disease. Most doctors will never see or hear of a case of this in their lifetime. As with tuberculosis, this type of bacteria likes to hide out inside your cells and then your body walls it off but can't kill it. Hence the LONG course of antibiotics, and the surgery. Glad you got it diagnosed right!
Glad to hear that you finally found out what was causing all of the problems. Hopefully the anitibiotics will clear it up. What moving? When did all of this come about?
Well first off, I'm very glad that you've finally narrowed down the mystery that has been plagueing(sp?) little Teagan. . . But as for the rest. First you leave me alone on nights and NOW you're leaving. Don't get me wrong I'm very happy for you and Adam and that he's having success and liking the bank thing. I feel like I was raised in a bank, I'm sure he'll be great! So, even though you're leaving me (again) I know it's for the better. Good luck and (no offence) I hope to not see you around here too often once you're gone!
What?! I need to talk to you again I guess. I didn't know they figured out it was a fistula. Does a fistula heal on it's own or does it have to be surgically repaired? Also, why the surgery for the lumps in the neck, is it invasive, and how soon do they expect to do it? Where will you be living when you get back here? Let us know when you are in town ok?
I'm glad things are finally figured out with Teagan and that all is well. Good luck with the moving and we'll miss you!
I feel like I haven't talked to you or seen you forever.. we are always working opposites. I am glad you figured out what was wrong with Teagan and I hope all goes well with her. And I guess it is good that Adam was offered the job.. but we will all miss you here!
I'm glad Teagen is feeling great despite everything that has gone on and at least they have figured it all out. I can't believe you are moving..you just came back!!! Troy said something to me about you guys going to Heber, but Roosevelt?? that's like almost to the end of the earth, but it's almost home for you. Good luck and it's been fun working with ya at the Health Center - Andrea W.
So glad that Tegan is okay and that you found out what she has. I am going to miss you and hope that maybe you will find your way back down here again. Probably not but please keep up with the post so we can know what is going on with you and yours. Good luck with moving to the farm and the new job for Adam! I'm going to miss ya!
